Air Force uniforms at Tech School
Do you have to wear uniforms at all times during Tech School? NO you do not!
Typically when you first arrive at Tech School they will require you to be in uniform at all times unless you are in your room. Some Tech Schools may let you wear civilian clothes if you’re inside the dorm building, but if you want to leave the dorm building to go to the dining facility or gym you’ll have to be in uniform. This is only temporary though.
You’ll have 2 or 3 phases at Tech School. Phase 1 or ITP (Initial training phase) is when you’re new and haven’t learned all the rules yet. Many times you’ll have to have your initial briefings and also pass 1-2 uniform inspections and room inspections before you can move onto phase 2 or ATP (Advanced training phase). Phase 1 is where you’ll be in uniform at all times. Once you move into phase 2, you only have to wear uniforms for going to school and for PT. You’ll also have less frequent uniform and room inspections in phase 2 or ATP..
You’ll still have to wear your uniforms some times during phase 2 or ATP. Since Tech School classes are your work day, you’ll wear your uniform during school. After class is over you’ll be able to change into civilian clothes for the rest of the day unless you have Tech School PT. If you have PT you’ll change into your PT uniform and then after you can change into civilian clothes for the evening.
