As a Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory (PMEL) specialist in the 2P0X1 career field, you will play a critical role in maintaining and calibrating precision measurement equipment for the United States Air Force. Your responsibilities will include performing calibrations, conducting metrology tests, and ensuring the accuracy and reliability of measurement equipment used in various Air Force operations. This position requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, adherence to quality standards, and a commitment to maintaining precise measurement capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Calibration and Metrology: Perform calibration procedures and metrology tests on a wide range of precision measurement equipment, including electronic, mechanical, and optical instruments. Follow established calibration methods and standards to ensure accurate and traceable measurements. Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment issues and perform necessary repairs or adjustments.

2. Equipment Maintenance and Repair: Maintain and repair precision measurement equipment to ensure proper functionality and accuracy. Perform routine maintenance tasks, including cleaning, lubrication, and alignment. Collaborate with equipment manufacturers and vendors for technical support and repairs. Document equipment maintenance activities and maintain accurate records.

3. Quality Assurance: Adhere to quality assurance procedures and standards to ensure the reliability and accuracy of calibration processes. Follow established guidelines for documentation, traceability, and equipment handling. Conduct periodic quality checks and participate in external audits to maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.

4. Technical Support: Provide technical assistance and support to Air Force personnel regarding precision measurement equipment. Respond to inquiries, troubleshoot equipment issues, and provide guidance on calibration procedures and best practices. Collaborate with other technical teams to resolve complex technical problems and ensure efficient problem resolution.

5. Training and Documentation: Develop and deliver training programs on calibration procedures, equipment operation, and metrology concepts. Document calibration processes, equipment specifications, and procedures to ensure accurate and up-to-date documentation. Maintain calibration certificates and calibration history records for traceability and audit purposes.

Qualifications:

- U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a secret security clearance.

- Successful completion of Basic Military Training and the Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory Apprentice Course.

- Strong technical skills and knowledge of precision measurement equipment, calibration procedures, and metrology principles.

- Familiarity with calibration standards and quality assurance practices.

- Understanding of electronic circuits and components.

- Attention to detail and ability to perform precise measurements.

- Effective communication and customer service skills.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
