As an Airfield Management Specialist in the 1C7X1 career field, you will play a vital role in managing and coordinating airfield operations for the United States Air Force. Your responsibilities will include ensuring the safe and efficient use of airfield facilities, coordinating aircraft movements, and implementing airfield safety measures. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, effective communication, and a commitment to maintaining airfield operational readiness.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Airfield Operations: Coordinate and manage airfield operations to ensure safe and efficient aircraft movements. Monitor and control airfield activities, including aircraft arrivals and departures, ground handling operations, and airspace management. Coordinate with various units and agencies to ensure seamless integration of airfield operations.
2. Airfield Safety: Implement and enforce airfield safety measures and procedures to minimize hazards and maintain a safe operating environment. Conduct regular inspections of airfield facilities, runways, taxiways, and navigational aids. Identify and mitigate safety risks, such as wildlife hazards, foreign object debris, and inclement weather conditions.
3. Air Traffic Control Support: Provide support to air traffic control units by coordinating aircraft movements, ground handling activities, and airfield resources. Maintain communication with air traffic controllers to ensure efficient aircraft flow and adherence to airfield procedures. Assist in resolving operational issues and emergencies as directed by air traffic control.
4. Flight Planning and Documentation: Assist in flight planning activities, including airspace coordination, NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) management, and airfield capacity analysis. Maintain accurate records and documentation of airfield activities, including aircraft movements, fueling operations, and maintenance activities. Prepare reports and statistics related to airfield operations.
5. Training and Readiness: Maintain proficiency in airfield management procedures, regulations, and technical skills. Participate in training exercises and drills to ensure readiness and effectiveness in managing airfield operations. Stay updated on industry standards and best practices related to airfield management.
Qualifications:
- U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a secret security clearance.
- Successful completion of Basic Military Training and the Airfield Management Operations Course.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Knowledge of airfield operations, procedures, and safety regulations.
- Familiarity with air traffic control operations and communication protocols.
