Airmen describing Traffic Management

  • Within Traffic Management, there are three jobs. Cargo movement, Passenger Travel, and Personal Property. Here is an explanation of the three jobs:

  1. Cargo Movement is the receiving and shipping of Air Force and DoD cargo. We primarily work with supply specialists to transport the Air Force’s wide range of aircraft parts to and from all corners of the globe. However, all other Air Force property will likely have our fingerprints on it. This can be anything from paper clips and screws, to weapon parts and munitions. We also handle large pieces of freight like tanks, armored vehicles, and small airplanes. In Addition to shipping our property, we also act as a base supporting agency to transport cargo for all customers on and around the base.

  2. Passenger Travel is the process of scheduling transportation for DoD and Air Force personnel to get to their next mission. Whether that's PCS, TDY, deployment, and everything in between, the passenger travel office will ensure that you get to where you need to be, in the most timely and efficient manner, with the best cost to the government. Also acting as a base support agency, their customers can range from members of the armed forces, DoD contractors, and DoD civilians.

  3. Last but certainly not least, is the Personal Property Office. One of the most stressful times in a military members career can be a PCS. They're here to ease the process of shipping your household goods on to the next location. Once bringing them your orders, they can begin the process of hiring moving companies to collect, box, and ship your property to a forwarding location. They also handle the process for “do it yourself moves,” as well as temporary and non-temporary storage. Like the rest of the career field, a huge base support agency, they will support everybody in the DoD who comes to their office with a copy of orders.

Traffic Management is a job in the United States Air Force that falls under the 2T0X1 career field. The responsibilities of this job include determining world-wide physical distribution objectives and establishing procedures and methods of achieving them; ensuring shipments are ready for transport; assisting personnel and dependents with their personal property movements; preparing transportation requests and authorizations; arranging for quality-control visits to personal property pickup sites; selecting and arranging official travel for individuals and groups; and scheduling proper carrier equipment for loading and unloading.
