As a Nuclear Weapons specialist in the 2W2X1 career field, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe handling, storage, and maintenance of nuclear weapons within the Air Force. Your responsibilities will include performing inspections, maintenance, and security operations related to nuclear weapons systems. This position requires a high level of technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to upholding the strictest safety and security protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Nuclear Weapons Maintenance: Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on nuclear weapons and associated components. Conduct inspections, testing, and troubleshooting to ensure weapons systems' operational readiness and compliance with safety standards. Repair or replace faulty or damaged components as required.

2. Safety and Security Operations: Implement and enforce safety and security measures for the handling, storage, and transportation of nuclear weapons. Adhere to strict protocols and procedures to prevent unauthorized access and maintain the highest level of security. Collaborate with security personnel to ensure the physical security of nuclear weapons facilities.

3. Weapons Handling and Storage: Safely handle and store nuclear weapons in accordance with established protocols and guidelines. Follow precise procedures for loading, unloading, and positioning weapons onto aircraft or storage facilities. Ensure proper documentation and accountability of weapons inventory at all times.

4. Equipment Operation and Maintenance: Operate and maintain specialized equipment, such as handling devices, transport vehicles, and testing apparatus, used in nuclear weapons operations. Conduct routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs to ensure equipment reliability and optimal performance.

5. Training and Compliance: Stay updated on technical knowledge, procedures, and regulations related to nuclear weapons operations. Attend training programs and maintain required certifications. Adhere to all applicable nuclear weapons policies, including those outlined in Air Force instructions and regulatory guidance.

Qualifications:

- Comprehensive knowledge of nuclear weapons systems, operations, and safety protocols.

- Proficiency in conducting inspections, maintenance, and repairs on nuclear weapons and associated components.

- Understanding of security protocols and procedures related to nuclear weapons handling and storage.

- Familiarity with specialized equipment used in nuclear weapons operations.

- Ability to interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and procedures.

- Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with team members and stakeholders.

- Attention to detail and commitment to following strict protocols and safety guidelines.

- Physical fitness and the ability to perform tasks requiring lifting, bending, and prolonged standing.

- U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a security clearance.
