As a Missile and Space Systems Maintenance specialist in the 2M0X2 career field, you will play a critical role in ensuring the operational readiness and reliability of missile and space systems. Your responsibilities will include conducting inspections, maintenance, and repairs on missile systems, space vehicles, and associated support equipment. This position requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work in high-security environments.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Systems Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on missile systems, space vehicles, and associated support equipment. Follow technical manuals, procedures, and checklists to ensure proper functioning and reliability of systems. Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions, and conduct tests and calibration to verify system performance.
2. Missile and Space Vehicle Systems: Maintain and repair various components of missile and space vehicle systems, including propulsion systems, guidance systems, electrical systems, communication systems, and structural components. Conduct preventive maintenance tasks and address equipment malfunctions to ensure optimal performance.
3. Support Equipment Maintenance: Perform maintenance, repairs, and inspections on support equipment used in missile and space systems operations, such as test equipment, ground support vehicles, and handling equipment. Coordinate with support personnel and vendors to address maintenance needs and ensure equipment functionality.
4. Quality Assurance: Ensure compliance with quality assurance standards and guidelines throughout maintenance operations. Adhere to technical specifications, safety regulations, and maintenance procedures. Perform quality checks and inspections to verify proper installation, repair, and maintenance of systems and components.
5. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, repairs, and equipment status. Complete required documentation, including work orders, maintenance logs, and equipment inventories. Generate reports on maintenance activities, system performance, and equipment status. Assist in analyzing data and identifying trends to optimize maintenance processes and resource allocation.
6. Security and Safety Compliance: Adhere to security protocols and procedures to maintain the integrity and safety of missile and space systems. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and guidelines to protect personnel and equipment. Report any security or safety breaches or concerns to appropriate authorities.
7. Team Collaboration: Collaborate with a team of maintenance technicians, engineers, and support personnel to ensure effective and efficient operation of missile and space systems. Communicate maintenance needs, issues, and progress to supervisors and team members. Participate in training and knowledge-sharing activities to enhance skills and knowledge within the team.
8. Emergency Response: Support emergency response operations related to missile and space systems. Participate in emergency drills and exercises to ensure readiness and compliance with emergency procedures. Assist in implementing emergency protocols and measures to mitigate risks and protect personnel and assets.
9. Training and Professional Development: Stay updated on technical knowledge and skills related to missile and space systems maintenance. Attend training programs, workshops, and professional development opportunities to enhance expertise. Keep abreast of advancements in missile and space systems technology and maintenance practices.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of missile and space systems, equipment, and maintenance procedures.
- Familiarity with propulsion systems, guidance systems, electrical systems, and communication systems used in missile and space operations.
- Strong technical and troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve system malfunctions.
- Ability to interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.

- Physical fitness and the ability to work in various weather conditions and confined spaces.
