As an Aircrew Flight Equipment Specialist in the 1POX1 career field, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and readiness of aircrew members in the United States Air Force. Your primary responsibility will be to inspect, maintain, and repair aircrew flight equipment, including survival gear, helmets, oxygen masks, parachutes, and other life-support systems. Your expertise and attention to detail will directly contribute to the safety, comfort, and effectiveness of aircrew members during flight operations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Equipment Inspection and Maintenance: Conduct thorough inspections of aircrew flight equipment to ensure proper functionality, serviceability, and compliance with technical specifications. Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and replacements of components and systems, including parachutes, harnesses, oxygen systems, anti-G suits, and communication equipment. Follow established procedures and technical orders to maintain equipment in accordance with safety and maintenance standards.

2. Inventory Management: Maintain accurate inventory records of aircrew flight equipment and related supplies. Perform regular inventories, reconcile discrepancies, and order necessary replacements or repairs. Ensure availability of required equipment for scheduled flights and exercises. Coordinate with logistics personnel to manage the procurement, storage, and distribution of aircrew flight equipment.

3. Training and Education: Provide training and guidance to aircrew members on the proper use, maintenance, and emergency procedures related to aircrew flight equipment. Conduct briefings and demonstrations to enhance aircrew understanding and proficiency in equipment usage, safety protocols, and emergency egress procedures. Stay updated on the latest advancements, regulations, and techniques in aircrew flight equipment maintenance and safety.

4. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate documentation of equipment inspections, maintenance actions, repairs, and inventory records. Create and update technical data, procedures, and manuals related to aircrew flight equipment. Prepare reports and submit required documentation on equipment status, maintenance activities, and compliance with safety standards. Collaborate with other maintenance personnel and supervisors to ensure accurate record-keeping and reporting.

5. Safety and Compliance: Adhere to strict safety protocols, procedures, and regulations to ensure aircrew safety and compliance with aviation standards. Comply with technical orders, maintenance instructions, and safety directives related to aircrew flight equipment. Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses to identify and mitigate potential safety risks associated with equipment usage and maintenance.

Qualifications:

- U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a Secret security clearance.

- Successful completion of Basic Military Training and the Aircrew Flight Equipment Apprentice Course.

- Strong knowledge of aircrew flight equipment, including parachutes, survival gear, oxygen systems, and helmets.

- Familiarity with technical orders, maintenance manuals, and safety regulations.

- Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions, procedures, and safety protocols.

- Proficiency in inspecting, maintaining, and repairing aircrew flight equipment.

- Effective communication skills to provide training and report maintenance activities.

- Physical fitness and ability to perform tasks requiring strength, dexterity, and stamina.

- Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with other maintenance personnel.

- Flexibility to work in various conditions, including confined spaces and elevated platforms.
