Contacts and Glasses at BMT

DO NOT wear your contacts to BMT, you will have to take them out.

You will be informed to not wear contacts while there. You don’t have enough time to practice the proper hygiene methods for contacts so it can lead to infections. Don’t try to sneak wearing them. That would be going against a direct order and it won’t be a good time for you.

Take your glasses to BMT and maybe even a 2nd pair (just to be safe).

Also, take your prescription information just so you have it handy.

At BMT you will have an eye test done and will get issued glasses, but that can take a few weeks. Once you receive your BMT issued glasses, you will have to wear those the remainder of BMT. 

Once you graduate from BMT and move to Tech School, you’ll be able to wear your contacts again. If your personal glasses meet the regulations in AFI 36-2903, then you’ll also be able to wear them again as well in uniform.
